   Rodgard Runflats

Rodgard Runflats are made from special formulated lightweight, high strength polyester elastomers comprised of two components, …a roller and a runner. The runner is securely attached to the wheel in the drop center, and provides a track or channel in which the roller is allowed to move or "rotate" about the wheel at the same speed as the tire, thus reducing friction and heat build up. The Rodgard runflat has unique properties that make it resistant to crack propagation and deterioration from ballistic attack or road hazards.

The unique design assists in vehicle maneuverability and control at high speeds and heavy loads. Rodgard mobility has been proven over 20 years of service on police vehicles and government armored limousines. Special applications such as monorail trains and military combat vehicles also benefit from Rodgard mobility products.

Rodgard Runflat Advantages

Adjustable hardware design provides ease of assembly and flexibility to wheel tolerance variations.

How it works....

When operating in runflat mode, the runflat provides support to hold the tire tread and sidewall off the wheel rim.  Specifically, the tire engages the roller that rotates freely on the runner secured to the wheel.  Without a runflat, the tire will quickly be destroyed or come off the wheel, either case causing immobility.  By keeping the tire off the rim, the runflat effectively prolongs the life of the tire allowing for continued vehicle operation and maneuverability.

Importance of the Patented Runner-Roller Concept.....

This concept provides two separate elements essential to maximum performance:

1. Support for the runflat on the wheel.

2. An efficiently designed bearing surface for the roller to rotate on.

The independent roller allows the tire to rotate at the same rate as the wheel, minimizing heat build up.  The runner is molded to match the wheel drop center profile, therefore maximizing the support of the runflat and providing an exact fit to the wheel. The proper fit of any runflat system to the wheel drop center area is essential for maximum performance and safety!

The unique bearing interface between the runner and roller includes a specially designed lubricating system that remains in place throughout the life of the runflat during normal operation. This insures permits free rotation and maximum performance during runflat mode.

Unique Hardware Design....

Our connecting hardware is designed for ease of use and secure fitment assuring you of proper runflat installation.  Our hardware is adjustable to accommodate tolerance variations in manufactured wheels, something our competitors do not offer.  Any shop with standard tire changing equipment can be used for installation.

RODGARD runflat systems are available in the following sizes: 13", 14", 15", 16", 17", 17.5", 18", 19", 19.5", 20" and 22.5".  The  runflat systems are designed to give a minimum runflat distance of 10 miles (15 kilometers) with the Getaway systems and up to 93 miles (150 kilometers) with the Super Standard systems for Heavy Duty military applications.
